Four Koori mates from Central NSW finally embark on their lifelong pact of hitting the road to Perth, a mere 4,000kms away to catch a gig with hip hop legend Briggs. Shane is a 28 year old technology addict and an aged and disability carer with a knack for interpersonal relationships. His cousin Todd is a fiery 20 year old looking to escape the monotony of small town life. Todd’s dad Darren is an accident prone thrill seeker trying to win his son’s respect, and his best friend Unk is a badass former kickboxing champion from the stolen generation who makes up in heart and cultural pride what he’s missing in teeth. Deep into a shortcut through bush fire trails, their car breaks down in the isolated bushland. As they search for a highway they explore their diverse experiences, knowledge and cultural identities as modern Indigenous men with a rawness and humour that pushes beyond confining cultural notions and stereotypes.
The theme song 'Wiradjuri Welcome' is a track created by the team at Desert Pea Media, alongside Indigenous artists Roy Peterson and Bruce Carr. "Yamma Dummarung" is the Wiradjuri word for welcome in the Condobolin language group in Central Western NSW.
